El film trata sobre un niño, fanático del legendario grupo musical Kiss, que es muy desobediente con su madre, pero una noche, un grupo de marcianos la secuestran y se la llevan a Marte. El niño tendrá que embarcarse en la aventura en su búsqueda para rescatarla. Una vez que llegue al “planeta Rojo” ocurrirá graves consecuencias. Inicialmente estaba prevista para que la dirigiese Robert Zemeckis, aunque finalmente será Simon Wells quien la lleve a cabo, utilizando la misma técnica de captura de movimientos de films como “Polar Express” o “Beowulf”.
